About Kings Forest West
The western section of King’s Forest mirrors the characteristics of the eastern side, with dense conifer plantations and long forestry access tracks. The area is widely used for equestrian and recreation activities.
Terrain and surface types remain consistent: mostly flat ground with sandy and gravel-based forestry roads.
Course Description
The terrain is mostly flat – though there are some deceptive Norfolk slopes to catch you out!!! The trail surfaces are extremely kind to the dogs, being mainly grass and compact sandy trails, however there may be some stretches of loose flints. Dog Boots should not be needed for fit feet. Exact distances will be dictated by weather conditions over the race weekend.
Directions
From North
A1, A604 towards Cambridge. A45, A11 towards Newmarket Continue on the A11 until you reach Elveden. Turn right on the B1106 towards Bury St. Edmonds, Race site will be signposted on the left hand side of the road.
From London/South
Take the M11 to Junction 9, then the A11 towards Newmarket. Continue on the A11 until you reach Elveden. Turn right on the B1106 towards Bury St. Edmonds, Race site will be signposted on the left hand side of the road approximately 1.5 miles from the Elveden turn off.
From Brandon
Follow the signs from Brandon to Bury St. Edmonds (B1106). Follow directions above having crossed the A11 at Brandon. There will be ample parking facilities near to the start and finish areas. Please follow the relevant signs. Spectators parking area will be separately signposted.
