From South A74(M):, Dumfries
At Grenta branch left and then merge onto the A75 (signposted South West Scotland, Dumfries, Stranraer). After about 20 miles come to a roundabout take 2nd exit (straight over) onto the A75 (signposted Stranrear) at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto (straight over) the A75 (signposted Stranraer) and again at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (Straight over) onto the A75 (signposted Stranraer). Continue forward onto the A75. Entering Dumfries at this roundabout take the 5th exit onto Glasgow Road – A76 (signposted Kilmarnock) at Lochside Road roundabout take 2nd exit (straight over) onto Glasgow Road – A76. Continue for about 13 miles – A76. Entering Thornhill straight on over roundabout in Thornhill. Exit Thornhill and onto and through a further village called Carronbridge. Drumlanrig Castle is signposted thereafter turn off for the Castle on the left.
From North A74(M):
Leave at Junction 14, then at roundabout take the 3rd exit onto A701 (signposted Elvanfoot, Carlisle) Turn right with the A702 and pass under motorway (signposted Thornhill, Elvanfoot) At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A702 (signposted Thronhill) cross the narrow bridge and descend the Dalveen Pass after about 12 miles turn right signpostedfor Drumlanrig turn next right then next left at signs for Drumlanrig Castle.
