Location Info
Muiravonside Country Park is a 170-acre country park located in the Falkirk area of central Scotland, near the villages of Maddiston and Whitecross. The park occupies the former grounds of the historic Muiravonside estate and was opened to the public in the late 1970s following the restoration of the estate land by Falkirk District Council.
The park sits within the valley of the River Avon and forms part of the wider River Avon Heritage Trail. Its landscape combines woodland, open parkland and riverside walks, with historic features including old lime kilns, a hydro-powered sawmill and a seventeenth-century doocot reflecting the area’s agricultural and industrial past.
Today Muiravonside Country Park serves as Falkirk’s main country park and a popular outdoor recreation site. Visitors can explore a network of trails, a sculpture and poetry trail, children’s adventure play areas and Newparks Farm, a small demonstration farm with domestic animals. The park also connects to long-distance routes including the John Muir Way, making it a well-used destination for walking, cycling and outdoor events.
Course Description
Terrain is gently sloped, descending toward the river valley. Surfaces depend on the route but include tarmac in maintained sections and natural earth elsewhere.

The Scottish Siberian Husky Club (SSHC) is a UK breed club dedicated to the promotion, welfare and responsible ownership of the Siberian Husky in Scotland. The organisation brings together owners, breeders and enthusiasts who share an interest in the breed’s history, health and working heritage.
The club organises a range of activities including Championship and Open dog shows, educational resources on breed health and standards, and working rallies where owners can participate in traditional husky harness activities. These events highlight the breed’s dual role as both a show dog and a working sled dog.
Alongside its events programme, the Scottish Siberian Husky Club provides guidance on responsible ownership, breeding ethics and welfare through its code of ethics, educational materials and welfare initiatives. Through these efforts the club works to preserve the characteristics, health and working ability that define the Siberian Husky as a northern working breed.
