RKC
The Kennel Club is the official kennel club of the United Kingdom and the oldest organisation of its kind in the world. Founded in 1873, the club was created to establish consistent rules for the rapidly growing activities of dog showing and field trials, and it continues to act as the national authority for pedigree dog registration and canine events in the UK.
The organisation oversees a wide range of dog-related activities including conformation shows, agility competitions, working trials and training schemes. It also maintains the UK’s national register of pedigree dogs, recognising more than two hundred breeds and licensing thousands of dog shows and events each year.
In addition to its role in competitions and registration, The Kennel Club works to promote responsible dog ownership, canine health and welfare through education, research funding and charitable programmes. The club also organises Crufts, widely regarded as the world’s largest dog show, which attracts competitors and spectators from around the globe each year.
