BSHRA Kinshaldy Forest Rallies

Sat 6th January '07
- Sun 7th Jan '07

Location Info

Kinshaldy Forest is part of Tentsmuir Forest in Fife and sits near Kinshaldy Beach. Managed by Forestry and Land Scotland, the area includes coastal pine plantation over a dune system, with long straight gravel roads.

Terrain is flat with low dune-derived undulations. Surfaces range from firm aggregate to sandy sections, especially near open dune edges.

Course Description

This area of the forest offers a wide range of surfaces from packed earth to sand stretches and grass trails. Tentsmuir is generally made up of main forest roads, grass firebreaks and sand surfaces allowing for a varied trail, suitable for all. Some road sections can be quite hard under frosty conditions at certain times of the year, which will be kept to a minimum. Follow the signs along the main tarmac road heading for the public car park. The race site will be well sign posted from there.

Due to the layout of the forest, it is sometimes necessary to run the race over part of the access road, which means that the road may be closed during classes. Verify this prior to the race weekend!

Directions

From Dundee

Cross the Tay road bridge and turn left at the roundabout (B946) signposted to Tayport. Follow the B945 through Tayport. After approximately 2.5 miles turn left towards Kinshaldy beach. Pass Craigie and Rhynd farms before turning left towards the beach (follow the red BSHRA signs to forest).

Please keep your speed down when entering the forest!

BSHRA

British Siberian Husky Racing Association

The British Siberian Husky Racing Association (BSHRA) was established in 1996 by a group of Britain’s leading sled dog racing drivers following the dissolution of the British Sleddog Racing Association. The organisation was created to provide a credible national championship dedicated specifically to the racing of purebred Siberian Huskies in the United Kingdom.

BSHRA focuses on administering its annual British Siberian Husky Racing Championship, held across a winter racing season at established venues around the UK. The series brings together experienced mushers and newcomers alike, providing structured competition while maintaining the traditions of Siberian Husky racing.

Alongside the main championship, BSHRA also recognises a range of additional categories including Rookie Musher, Veteran Team and Junior championships. Through these classes and its annual race programme, the organisation supports participation at every level while promoting the athletic ability and heritage of the Siberian Husky in competitive sled dog sport.
