SDE

Sled Dog Events

Sled Dog Events (SDE) was a UK organisation associated with Affiliated British Sleddog Activities (ABSA) that provided both event support and a registration system for sled dogs. The SDE Register, run by Lynn Harrison, was created for purebred, Kennel Club-recognised sled dog breeds that did not hold official KC registration papers.

The register operated on a case-by-case basis, with each dog assessed individually before being issued a registration number. Importantly, all registrations were granted under a strict no-breeding policy, ensuring the scheme did not encourage the breeding of unregistered dogs while still allowing them to participate in the sport.

Dogs registered with SDE were eligible to compete in ABSA standard classes and most other sled dog events, providing an accessible route into competition for owners whose dogs could not be formally KC registered. The organisation helped bridge a practical gap in the sport, supporting participation while maintaining a level of breed verification and oversight.
