About Leanachan
Leanachan Forest sits at the foot of Aonach Mòr near Fort William and is part of the Lochaber forestry estate. It includes extensive conifer plantations and a well-built network of gravel forestry roads used year-round for recreation and forest operations.
Terrain is moderately sloped, rising toward the Nevis Range mountains. Surfaces are mainly firm forestry aggregate.
Course Description
A loop. Leanachan Forest trails are mainly forest roadsdesignated as easy grade cycle routes. The trail is moderately undulating, firm with loose surface in some places. Spectaucular scenery to enjoy whilst working your dogs – if snow, then you can imagine you are anywhere…..Canada…..Switzerland….? Faster teams may wish to consider booting.
Directions
The competitors entrance to Leanachan Forest lies 5 miles north of Fort William and 5 miles south of Spean Bridge along the A82 at the sign post for Aonach Mor / Mountain Cable Car / Auction Mart. Saturday evening supper, followed by Social Event at the Auction Mart.
