Location Info

Castle Caldwell Forest is a woodland site located on the northern shores of Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, within the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark. Covering around 200 hectares, the forest sits on a peninsula overlooking the lough and features a mixture of native broadleaf woodland and conifer forest.

The area forms part of the historic Castle Caldwell estate, whose origins date back to the seventeenth century. The ruins of the former estate house remain within the forest and provide a focal point for visitors exploring the woodland and shoreline landscape.

Today Castle Caldwell Forest is a popular outdoor recreation site with walking trails, picnic areas and lakeside viewpoints. The forest also supports wildlife habitats and bird conservation, with parts of the area monitored as a bird sanctuary along the shores of Lower Lough Erne.
