World Sleddog Association

The World Sleddog Association (WSA) is an international organisation dedicated to purebred sled dog racing, bringing together national federations and clubs that promote competitive mushing with recognised northern breeds. Founded in 1995, the association works to support racing for dogs registered with the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), including breeds such as the Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and Greenland Dog.

The organisation coordinates international competition through events such as the WSA World Championships, European Championships and the World Trophy race series, which are held in different countries each year. These competitions allow mushers from member organisations around the world to compete under a common set of race rules and standards.

In addition to organising races, WSA promotes the preservation of traditional sled dog breeds by encouraging working activities that reflect their historical purpose. By supporting international cooperation between clubs and federations, the association helps connect mushers globally while promoting the welfare, health and responsible use of sled dogs in competitive sport.
